week 12: summary of 8 Great Educational Podcasts for Kids

I don’t know why, but I’ve never thought about podcasts for kids! I grew up listening to a lot of Adventures in Odyssey (radio drama) and love listening to podcasts while I work around the house. And I have a smorgasbord of podcasts that I’m working through about a variety of topics of interests. I love the idea of tailoring podcasts to kids, especially when the shows are created by other kids. I imagine that the episodes have to be shorter in length to keep kids’ attention. But, I imagine the shows are so fun to listen to when you get to see the world through the eyes of a child.

One of the shows referenced that caught my eye is called Short & Curly which is a podcast out of Australia on ethics/dilemmas that kids face. I think it’s so fun that it addresses things that kids already think and ponder about.

  1. I also hadn't thought of podcasts for kids until recently! I like the idea of a podcast about dilemmas that kids can relate to and learn from. I have also listened to one called Smash Boom Best, which has kids debating on a topic. I plan on using it during my opinion writing unit this year!

  2. This is such a fun idea! I love podcasts as an adult but never thought about them for kids. Do you have any others you have found to be helpful? Now I am on the hunt!
